How I take on and deliver translations

I will only translate texts on topics I understand and have experience of. For example, if you need a translation of the operating manual of a technical machine, I will refer you to a colleague specialising in technical translations.

Providing you with your translation in time for your appointment or application deadline is also important, so if I cannot deliver your translation when you need it, I will also refer you to a colleague.

Each translation is different. Sometimes the text is complicated, sometimes the formatting is difficult, other times both text and formatting are straightforward. To be able to give you a quote, I will need to understand what you need translating. Please send me an electronic version of what you need translated to get a quote. For certificates, a picture from your phone is fine. For longer texts an extract is sufficient, so that I can understand the topic and the complexity of the language.

Prices for certificates are usually per page. Longer texts are usually priced per word. Official appointments are priced in accordance with the legal remuneration set by the Remuneration of Experts Act (JVEG) for time spent at the appointment plus travel time to and from the appointment.

If you are happy with the price I have quoted you, I will send individual customers an invoice for payment in advance. I will only start the translation once I have notification from my bank that the money has been transferred.

For larger projects and business clients I will send a contract with Terms of Business and will accept payments either in instalments or payment on delivery.

I can deliver your document electronically or physically on paper. You can collect translation on paper from my office in Überherrn-Berus, Saarland, or I can send it to you by recorded delivery. If you need it sent by recorded delivery I will add the cost of postage (currently €4.15) to the invoice.
